Hey there, do you know “MagicSFXphoto” (just google it)? On their website you will find a nice free video showing the way to take outstanding photographs. This helped Matt to shoot photos that have that wow-effect after you take a look at them. Hopefully it works for you too.

if I add a color gel to my Speed light is it give me a colored smoke?

I am looking for a Digital SLR.
I am a beginner and I have never used a DSLR before. I have a small understanding how things work by following along with your videos.
I am interested in kind of photography: landscapes, close up, depth-of-field…

Could you please recommend a cheap-ish Digital SLR and any lenses you can think of.

I do not have a camera flash, but it is impossible to get a good picture with a lamp or is it just going to be blurred?

I know how you turned the smoke blue but what about red and yellow? or was the use of filters used on the flash? I ask because, i don’t like to assume!

Gavin’s videos are awesome!
His voice is not difficult to listen to, but importantly, he knows precisely what he is doing at all times and is confident in his own skill. None of that bumbling um and ah and errrr that you get off some.
There’s not much I’d pay for in this world but Gavin’s videos are top quality and worth money.

I just can’t seem to get the same effect.. I followed this video pretty much word for word and my black background kept coming out blueish. I tried to adjust the F stop to a higher number, around f13 even as high as f16 and still the same result… not sure if my flash my be the problem, it and old ” Image CZ-55 ” hooked up to the remote trigger, and set at ISO 100 on manual the front of it.. I’m new at all this and really want to learn, can any one give some advice? please……..
