Joy of Marketing has partnered with the photography industrys premier lab, White House Custom Colour, to teach photographers how to price photography.
As digital camera prices plummet, professional photographers face increasing competition from hobbyists who offer a lesser product but also charge less for their photography. Compounded by thousands of new photographers entering into the market each year, the Pain-Free Pricing online photography event was designed to help professional photographers stay out of the red and maintain cash flow even in slow times.
This event features one of the most profitable photography business owners in the United States, Sarah Petty, interviewing 9 professional photographers from across the US about how they price photography. From weddings to high school seniors, newborns, children / family, school portraits and dance photography, each niche requires specialty pricing.
Some of the topics covered in this free event include: One Pricing Change That Can Add $ 40K to Your Bottom Line Pricing High School Seniors in a Small Market, Turning Around an Unprofitable Photography Business in Just 6 months, and Doubling Your Wedding Pricing Overnight-Without Starting Over.
The number one issue photographers struggle with is how to price photography. This event shows how successful pros in big markets and small markets, with differing photography specialties price and make a living with their art. There are so many ways to price, but many result in an unprofitable business. This event shares perspective on the dos and donts of pricing if you want to be profitable, said Sarah Petty, New York Times Best-Selling author and profitable photography business owner.
This event is free on May 22 & 23 from 11am CDT to 4pm CDT. For more information go to http://www.painfreepricing.com to view the schedule, speakers, videos, and more or purchase the interviews and a copy of each speakers price menu for only $ 199 through May 23, 2013. Transcripts are also available.

Rocklin, CA (PRWEB) May 06, 2013
The Sierra College first Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) event inspired high school girls to consider Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education and technical careers.
Held at the Rocklin, California campus on April 19, girls from Roseville, Nevada City, Truckee and communities in between visited labs, worked on projects and discussed careers. The 75 female students had a choice of Automotive, Applied Art & Design, Drafting and Engineering Support, Mechatronics, Photography, Technical Theater and Welding.
Small groups, hands-on STEM projects, female role models, encouraging professors and a warm welcome were all part of the strategy to inspire girls at the NEW event, according to Carol Pepper-Kittredge, Director, Sierra College Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT) .
We wanted these girls to know that they can succeed in nontraditional STEM careers and make a difference for their families, community and the world, said Pepper-Kittredge. The NEW event was designed to engage girls, and help see themselves attending Sierra College and taking Career Technical Education (CTE) classes.
In the Welding lab, girls bent metal into vases and welded the sides together, attached a metal flower in the vase and then painted them. The girls also connected via Skype with Jessi Combs, welder, fabricator and television personality appearing on All Girls Garage and Overhaulin as a host and A-Team hybrid member on the Velocity Channel. Combs encouraged the girls and told them that there are fantastic opportunities in welding although they need to be prepared for some chauvinism.
Being a fabricator is fun, amazing and empowering but youll need to put on your thick skin to face opposition on a daily basis, said Combs. You can accomplish anything, if you are focused and determined, believe in yourself, and get education and certifications that will give you confidence.
She also told the girls to take math. Right now, I have five measuring tapes sitting on my desk. I use trigonometry all the time. Math makes sense when you apply it to projects. Practice your math… and English, urged Combs.
After welding, girls reported: I thought I could do only certain jobs but now I know that I can also do physically and mentally challenging jobs, I have clearer direction of ways to do well in an industry that I am interested in, and It gave me a chance to try something in a comfortable setting.
Students made LED flashlights in Mechatronics learning to test components and solder before assembling them. Michael Halbern, Mechatronics Department Chair, thought the girls were very focused on the project. The experience demonstrated to them that they are just as capable of performing tasks in Mechatronics classes as men, said Halbern. Some of these young women may now look at Mechatronics as a path to a successful career.
In Drafting and Engineering Support, instructor Alison Salome guided girls in making 3D designs and then they watched additive manufacturing equipment making products. Students reported: At first I wasnt sure what path to get on for a future. Now Im interested in drafting, You can pursue any path you choose, and It changed my thinking because now I am very interested in Engineering and Architecture.
With Computer Information Systems faculty member Annette Nylander, students explored project management, discussed motivation and learned how software is used for project management that can save lives, solve world problems and run businesses. Denise Bushnell, CTE Committee Faculty Chair, dropped in to encourage the girls. My background in computer information systems has opened up opportunities for me, said Bushnell. There are so many careers in technology and I urge you to consider coming to Sierra College.
The NEW logo was designed by Chihiro Machiya, a Sierra College student. T-shirts with the logo were given to all the participants and were made possible through NEW event sponsors: RuffStuff Specialties, Animal Medical Center, Big Horse Works, E.V. Cain STEM Charter Middle School, Harris & Bruno International, Kent & Darlene Jackson, Valley I.T. Support and Roseville/South Placer American Association of University Women (AAUW).
About Sierra College STEM
The Sierra College NEW event was supported by Career Technical Education Perkins funds and the Sierra STEM Collaborative, funded by California Community College Chancellors Office, to create a pipeline of female students interested in technical careers. Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 29, 2013
Members and guests of the NAPW Southeastern Michigan Local Chapter gathered on January 22nd for a professional networking event at The Corner Clock Restaurant in Shelby Township, MI.
New Chapter President Virginia Gronley welcomed the group of professional women to the Meet & Greet, where she revealed exciting plans for the Chapter in the coming year that include charitable endeavors, volunteer opportunities, and Chapter launch.
Im excited to take on the role of President of the Southeastern Michigan Chapter. We have a great group of women and I look forward to working with everyone in 2013! said the Chapter President.
Virginia kicked off the meeting by welcoming everyone. She began the networking portion of the meeting by leading attendees in a short introduction exercise.
Everyone had an opportunity to talk about themselves and told the group how long theyve been a member of NAPW. They shared with the others a little about their careers and/or roles, and gave a brief description, including one interesting fact, about themselves. Members were asked to distribute business cards as part of the networking exercise and there was a drawing for a gift card. Chapter member Bridget Swope was the proud winner of the gift card.
The Chapter President then began a discussion about upcoming plans for the Chapter, including ways members and guests could give back to the community through charitable endeavors.
All members agreed that we would like to get involved with charitable organizations in the community, said the President.
Some of the ideas discussed were: anything related to soldiers/wounded soldiers; Lighthouse in Oakland County, which works to get families back on their feet with training, job skills, etc.; and Macomb Abuse Shelter, an organization that helps abused women with resumes, interviews, etc.
A binder will also be created for the Chapter that will include a printed bio of every active member.
For upcoming Chapter meetings, it was also decided that each member will rotate as the Southeastern Michigan Chapter Secretary and take the meeting minutes. For the month of February, Lauri Reno volunteered to take on that role.
Chapter member Dr. Adeela Peer volunteered her Chiropractic office as the meeting venue for February 26th from 6:00 to 7:30pm. She will be the speaker for the month of February and her presentation topic will focus on Chiropractic and Wellness. Details will be posted on the NAPW Southeastern MI Chapter Page.
The Chapter President thanked both Lauri and Dr. Adeela for volunteering. She also announced that the official launch meeting for the Southeastern Michigan Chapter will be held sometime in March, as soon as the NAPW banner and other materials arrive. A Chapter Facebook Page is also being created and all information regarding meetings and events that is featured on the Chapter Page will also appear on the Facebook Page. All future Chapter meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30pm at The Corner Clock Restaurant (unless otherwise specified on the Chapter Page). The venue offers a nice menu variety and a separate dining area for members and guests to hold a private meeting without distracting other customers.
Virginia closed the meeting with a reminder about the upcoming NAPW National Networking Conference.
The Conference will be held on Friday, April 26th and the Keynote Speakers are Martha Stewart and Arianna Huffington, so mark your calendar ladies! she said.

Fizara DIY Photo Albums announced it has published an online guide to help brides and others hire the best photographers for weddings and special events without blowing the budget. Fizara.com, an Internet resource consumers use to create their own photo albums, is dedicated to helping people preserve personal history in quality memory albums they design themselves to save time and money.
The Fizara.com guide lists easy-to-follow ideas to help brides and others explore options, narrow the field, and negotiate deals with event photographers. The guide suggests a variety of approaches for locating photographers in your area, deciding which photographer you would be most comfortable with, and bargaining with wedding photographers and special event photographers to reach the best price. Readers learn how to reduce stress and save money by doing things such as hiring a professional photographer for only the formal parts of the event and buying rights to all digital shots so they can make their own wedding albums or special event albums using online services such as Fizara DIY Photo Albums.
We are excited to share these ideas for affordable wedding photography and special event photography. Weve been doing this a long time, and we know first-hand how difficult it can be to find, hire and manage special event photography without running into snags, said Liz Henry, owner of Fizara. Brides and others who plan special events need to find every advantage to save time and money and still have a high-quality photo album to preserve their memories.
Henry encourages brides not to ask family members or friends to take photographs. The memories are too important to leave this detail up to amateurs, she said. In addition to the need for a polished look and unique photographs, Henry said a professional photographer knows how to capture all of a weddings or special events most important details. The Fizara guide offers hope to those who believe a professional photographer might be out of their budget range. Readers can access this how-to article at Fizara.com.

Merida, Mexico (PRWEB) December 02, 2012
Author of the NY Times Best Seller, Hidden Messages From Water, Hado (energy) and Water researcher Dr. Masaru Emoto, offers a very special and significant opportunity with the 15th International Hado Instructor School to more fully participate in this monumental event where the collective human consciousness believes Water is the key to open up the “New Era”.
December 21, 2012 marks a significant planetary alignment predicted some 26,000 years ago by Mayans with such clarity that pyramids were erected over the course of thousands of years, that reflect the exact alignment of our star system. To commemorate the upcoming event, Maseru Emoto will be an honored Master of Ceremony and participant in the 2012 Spiritual Planetary Summit. A monumental Mayan Event to enter The New Era, sunrise on December 22, 2012. This date will literally be, the dawn of the Age of Aquarius, The Water Age.
Consider that the human brain is over 80% water and the body consists of on average about 75% water, that’s same as the very planet that we live on! This isn’t a coincidence. Humans are a part of the big universe, in much the same way their body is basically it’s own universe. They have rivers that vein through them pulsing blood, a digestive system that nourishes, and organs that filter. All of it requiring water fresh, clean and constantly supplied. The planet Earth has rivers that flow carrying nourishment, cleaning, filtering and pulsing… When Nasa sends probes to other planets, they look for signs of water- signs of life.
Masaru Emoto has been researching hado (energy) and water for over 20 years. As a doctor of Hado Medicine, Emoto’s research demonstrates how hado effects water. Most famous for his Water Crystal Photography, Emoto places different hado (energy) to water (words, pictures, music, prayer) showing the true nature of water. The research is genius in it’s simplicity, especially when considering the incredible results. Using two samples of water from the same source. Talk to and treat one water sample with positive words or intention, and the other with negative words or intention, the results are breathtaking and profound.
The Water is obviously affected to the point where photographs can be taken and compared. The water exposed to the positive words formed beautiful symmetrical water crystals, while the water exposed to the negative words were malformed, unsymmetrical or no crystals formed at all.One can then more than imagine how their negative and positive thoughts effect the water in their body. Emoto’s water crystal photography received international acclaim, featured in the film, “What The Bleep” and his newly launched mobile iPhone application MY HADO. Downloads support Emoto’s non profit, the Emoto Peace Project, where the mission is to teach all people, especially children, the true power of words, thoughts, and emotions through water for peace with in and around the world. The EPP contributes towards a movement for World Peace with a Global Positive Intention of Love and Gratitude towards Water.
After milleniums of building communities, civilizations, cities and countries, many humans are looking for deeper, truer connection. A deeper connection to ourselves, and to each other, a more respectful connection to nature, to the healing of our Mother Earth. More and more people are turning inward to thought, to meditation. Going back to our beginnings and relearning integral ceremony and practices of our great ancestors, before the age of constant distraction. Breakthrough after breakthrough is being realized as more and more people understand the connection between water and the power of Positive Intention, as hearts connect the Collective Consciousness grows simultaneously.
If you are wondering what will happen this Winter Solstice, you are not alone. No one knows for sure what will come to pass, and there are many theories. You yourself can sit and observe, or you can actually take a personal roll in this awakening event. Instead of fearing the change, or worrying about what might happen, engage with millions of people who are not afraid. Preparing by learning how to properly love, respect and positively channel healing energy through water, our universal connector.
There is still limited availability in a unique opportunity to learn more and participate personally with Masaru Emoto for this Epic Universal Mayan Event.
