When it come to digital SLR photography, 3 of the best rival dslr camera brands come to mind: Nikon, Canon and Olympus. This is because all three brands deliver great quality at competitive prices depending on each of the features available. This is just a brief overview of what each camera has to offer a new user.

DSLR photography has come a long way, which is why more and more people are taking this hobby seriously. The evolution of slr cameras and the hype behind slr photography is due mostly to the competition between the Nikon D90, Canon 50D and the Olympus E30, the latest models that have similar features to offer photography enthusiasts.

These three have been at the very top of the photography history because of their dedication to the manufacturing of quality dslr cameras for photography newbies and veterans alike. Basically, the problem now lies on which digital slr camera is the best choice for any individual?

In my opinion, I prefer the Nikon D90. Besides the fact that is already a big bargain, especially because it is about two hundred dollars cheaper than the Canon 50D, it has all the features you need in one kit. You won’t have to upgrade anything until you get bored with all the features it has to offer. It offers such a wide scope readily available for anyone who is new to DSLR photography.

However, when it comes to digital slr camera durability, I have to say the Canon 50D wins my heart any day. This is because althought the Nikon D90 digital SLR may be a good investment for any newly initiated photographer, it is relatively less durable when pitted against the Canon’s metal casing that also offers some weather sealing. This is extremely useful if you carry your digital SLR around a lot, where it experiences bumps and wear.

But when it comes to image stabilization, then the Olympus E-30 will win hands down because it is built in and is compatible with most lenses, unlike the Nikon D90 and the Canon 50D. This is important for dslr photography, especially when you are capturing fleeting moments and moving subjects. This decreases the amount of blurring an image is likely to have. The E-30 also features a flippable LCD screen for those shots that make beautiful digital SLR photography what it is. The Nikon D90 digital SLR camera also has this but the 50D does not. For more experienced users however, image stability can easily be manipulated.

When it comes to ease of use among the three competitors the Nikon D90 digital slr camera offers a faster start up and is more user-friendly, allowing anyone to easily fit into the role of a budding photographer. Other digital SLR cameras however are more limited to more experienced users. Generally, the Nikon D90 is a better choice because it already has all the basics you are going to need plus a few extra features while still maintaining its easy usability.
